Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I Also Go By Madeline - fancy, huh? Madie was born about July 11, 2015 and weighs about 55 lbs. She is a gorgeous girl that adores her humans, has done well with children, and is wonderful with the other dogs. She does tend to play a little on the rough side so maybe she shouldn't go to a home with really small or fragile dogs. She is fun loving and thinks she should be a lap dog. She is house trained, good on leash and loves car rides! She enjoys her toys and loves to chase balls or snowballs. She is here because her humans were moving where she couldn't go and they had few resources. So she really does look Boxer'ish, but surely ... (Read More)there is likely some Pit in there too. All her paperwork does say Boxer. She's a really sweet girl and will do well with other dogs or just by herself with humans home a reasonable amount of time. She adores us! (Less)

Shiba Inu    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My Life Was Spent in a Puppy Mill! Franny was born about November 1, 2006 and weighs about 22 lbs. She has spent her life in a cage in a puppy mill and is so excited, and amazed, to walk on grass! She is having a blast here and loves the other dogs. A puppy mill dog often does better with another dog in his next life - a normal dog. The normal dog will teach the puppy mill dog how to act in the world. As far as puppy mill fear goes this girl is minor. When we try to pick her up she will run, but otherwise is very comfortable with us, she looks at us dances and wiggles. Adopting a mill dog is a special kindness as it will take many months or, even, years before the dog truly shows love toward you. But, when that moment happens you see it in their eyes and it will take your breath away! We ADORE this little girl, she has blossomed!! American Eskimo Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I'm Fun and Fluffy! Deiter was born about January 27, 2014 and weighs about 20 lbs. He is absolutely adorable and outwardly friendly to humans. He loves all of us and we love him back! He is house trained, good on leash, fine in the car and has done well with a child as young as 11. He loved playing with this child. As with so many Eskies they are not good around other pets. He has been fine with larger dogs, but probably he should live as an only dog for a peaceful existence. Also, typical of the breed he has some wanderlust so a leash or fenced in yard is going to be a must in his next life. He is here because the owner was moving ... (Read More)where she could no longer have dogs and she had little resources. She did mention he can be food aggressive (also typical for Eskies) at times. I'm not sure of what this means, but I suspect when he has a high value food item since she stated 'at times'. So, that would mean no little kids in his next life. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-27-00160Barkley (male)

Pug Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Barkley was born about November 9, 2010 and weighs about 13 lbs. Barkley and four females came to us from a very bad situation in West Virginia. They were in extremely nasty living conditions, and one of the females, Queen Sheba, came to us pregnant because they were all locked in the same room with Barkley, so we now have four little surprise bundles whose lives were also saved as a result of this joint mission. Volunteers with ALIVE, a group for the humane treatment of animals in the area, were at the scene when State Police arrived and forced entry, and the five dogs were immediately placed in foster care. Their foster mom knew that we ... (Read More)often help their county shelter by pulling dogs, and she was thrilled when we told her we'd get them transported that weekend, tend to their veterinary care, and find them loving forever homes! This entire group of dogs are sweeties, never nippy, a bit shy at first probably due to all the changes in their lives so quickly, and they are wiggly, happy, and majorly cute! Due to their circumstances we have no clue of their level of house training and often these tiny dogs struggle throughout their lives and potty floor pads may need to be in their future. We do want to be clear that all these dogs DO shed. Truly, these dogs should go to a home with another dog buddy as they've always had a dog buddy in the past. Also, most of them came in with hair loss and bacterial infections of the skin from the environment and fleas. They are healing, it will take time. (Less)

Scooter was born about October 28, 2013 and weighs about 13 lbs. We are surely guessing at breed here and this dog DOES shed. He is the cutest, happiest, friendliest, fun, loving, and we just love him - can you tell? Other than that the only thing we want to let you know is that we are not sure of house training at this point and we like to warn potential adopters that many of these small dogs require potty floor pads throughout life.

Jack Russell    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

No Blenders, Please. Rudy was born about December 7, 2008 and weighs about 22 lbs. He is one gorgeous, rough coat, Jack Russell and just as much fun as a JR should be! He is bouncy, happy, playful, and very loving. He will, softly, nuzzle his face into your chest and sit on your lap. He is here because he was not great with the grandkids (under 7) that visited from Denver. Yes, she said they visited often. He is house trained, good on leash and loves car rides. We understand he has a bit of wanderlust so a fenced yard or on leash will be necessary. He is almost always inside, just prefers human companionship. However, he is ... (Read More)excellent with the other dogs and not a lot of work. However, we do have to mention one thing that is a bit annoying about him. His foster mom makes a shake, in a blender, every morning and he barks the whole time it is running. So...he may do this with other noises, but I've not noticed any here. He's really a great little dog! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-23-00054Chewie (male)

Miniature Pinscher Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chewie was born about November 14, 2013 and weighs about 15 lbs. He came to be with us when a man, who had owned Chewie since he was a puppy, and his girlfriend decided to move south and didn't want to take Chewie with them. Although the man shed tears, they literally dumped him in the arms of a woman who helps get dogs to us once in a while and left...no names, no phone number, no forwarding address, no veterinary records, NOTHING. Just here you go...and they left. She called us and we agreed to take him in, but since he was up in the Rochester area we had him go into one of our foster homes until our truck went up that weekend to bring him ... (Read More)down. What the foster parents witnessed changed that plan a bit. What they discovered was a little dog who had no idea why he had been abandoned. He was one of the most severely traumatized dogs they'd ever fostered after being dumped by the only family he ever knew. For a couple of days, Chewy hid under their bed. He didn't want to eat. He CLEARLY wanted to find his daddy, as he tried desperately to get out their closed windows, crying and frantic. They realized Chewy would be a flight risk if he ever got out, so having access to their doggy door, even into their fenced yard, was out of the question. Chewy would have to enjoy their bedroom as his new world for a while...better to keep him safe! As far as his not wanting to eat, Wegman's Rotisserie chicken solved that problem, and also helped him bond with his foster mom and dad. They still mix bits and pieces of it in with his dry food. They say time heals all wounds...and in Chewy's case it seems to prove true! Within a week, he transformed into the most loving, affectionate, loyal dog you could imagine! He showers his foster mom and dad with kisses, always greets them with a wagging tail and runs to them for petting, and curls up in bed against his foster mom every night. Several other dogs have spots on the bed, too, and Chewy is tolerant of most of them, but he does not seem to care for their bigger dogs. Actually, they feel Chewy would ideally like to be the ONLY dog and have all the loving for himself. He is going to be an unbelievably loyal, loving, devoted dog to someone who will show Chewie that he is their world and will never be abandoned again! (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hank was born about September 16, 2016 and 'may' end up weighing in the 20 lb. range. Truly we are only guessing as we have no clue of parentage. These puppies have been raised in a loving foster home and have thrived since their arrival. Hank is very adventurous and very busy. He is the first to do everything and they suspect he will be finding the dog door before too long. He should have another active, playful, dog in his next home as he is the last to settle down, but the first to eat! Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Chloe was born about June 18, 2014 and will probably top out in the 75 lb. range, but perhaps more as she matures. She is FLUFFY! Don't like dog fur on your clothes or fur bunnies under your furniture? Well, then this girl isn't for you. She's been very sweet with all of us and she's been wonderful with the other dogs, even small dogs. She is also good with cats. Chloe is a lucky girl we had just one more crate that fit her perfectly! Update: Chloe did find a home for 4 months, but they couldn't keep her from jumping a 4' chain link fence so she is back. We have not had a problem with our 5' livestock wire nor the 6' chain link, ... (Read More)she seems perfectly happy. She is good with cats and was fine with the infant child and toddler. Chloe is fine in the car. She is extremely human motivated and thinks she should be a lap dog. She pulls on leash and should probably have a gentle leader type/harness devise to help with this issue. Apparently she also jumped on the counter...not sure of circumstances, but it's possible she has not been in a house much in her past life. She will need a crate when left alone and probably a sturdy one, she's a big girl! Chloe has growled at a few men on introduction, guessing that comes from her past life too. She has never offered to bite so if this behavior is treated properly (you should probably take her to a good training class) it should diminish with time and trust of one man after another man after another.     Dumped on a very rural road! Bitsy was born about September 14, 2014 and weighs about 6 lbs. She is the most adorable, tiny, thing! She is very sweet with all of us, but due to her breed she may need just a little warm up time. Chihuahuas are just unsure of new humans often and shouldn't be grabbed at by humans that don't know them. She is doing amazing in her foster home and is great with all the other dogs and cat. She's also been good with the visiting child. Floor potty pads may need to be in her future as with most of these tiny dogs they can struggle with house training and need to go quickly. Perhaps this is the reason that ... (Read More)someone let them out of the car, on a very rural road, where someone wasn't that far away and heard the door slam and the car take off. Sadly, they drove in the opposite direction and the car wasn't visible. A very kind lady saw one and then the other and she was able to attract them to her within a day of being dumped. She called dog control and they were able to come here so they could find a new home that understands small dogs. This kind lady has visited them and is so happy they are well and happy.     Prince was born about October 19, 2013 and weighs about 45 lbs. Sadly, no information is collected, or passed on, from the southern shelter and we will be learning as we go and so will you. Prince, has been wonderful with all of us and with the other dogs, but it may be good to feed separately as there is a small amount of food guarding. We would like to add that the vet guessed his birth date and his teeth look good, but we are feeling that he may well be a few years older. We'll have to leave that up to you and your vet. Prince's visit to the vet consisted of three small subcutaneous masses being removed from his left chest wall and ... (Read More)one similar mass was removed from the umbilical/abdominal area. The masses were diagnosed as lipomas with no concern for malignancy. He also had to have an incisor removed due to a fracture and infection. Thankfully, this guy was previously neutered so we didn't have to go 'there' too! He is definitely a Lab mix, but his fur is a bit dense so we through the possibility of some Husky in too. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-29-00083Robin (female)

Chow Chow Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I've been dealt a bad hand. Robin was born about February 8, 2016 and is a shy little girl that we feel will end up weighing in the 40 lb. range. She is SO cute and Chow like in her very thick, medium length fur. Also, Chow like is her energy level. She is social, happy, follows you around, but there is more down time than a 'normal' puppy. She is said to be part Rott. and her brother may be, but we are thinking she may have had a different daddy (that can happen) as her brother is at least three times her size. Since Chows are on the 'list' from insurance companies her medical paperwork all says Retriever, which she surely could be ... (Read More)part, who knows?? Also, because this puppy is Chow like that we are looking for humans with Chow experience as Chows are not for everyone, but if you love the breed you LOVE them! She is with us because her mama ended up pregnant.... Update: Sadly, Robin has a very bad heart murmur and this is determined by an echo cardiogram done by Dr. Patricia Tamke. 'Pulmonic stenosis, a narrowing of the outflow tract from the right side of the heart. It is a birth defect and causes the outer right wall to become thickened, because of a pressure overload. The narrowing prevents blood from exiting the heart and can cause fluid to back up into the system (chest, abdomen). Without balloon valvulopasty, which has been very successful, (at Cornell or Guelph (Canada) costs $6,000.00+) she is expected to live 1-5 years. Lasix is a medicine that may help but should not be started until she is having trouble breathing.' So, unless someone is willing and capable of doing this amazing surgery for this girl her future is uncertain. However, she is still available for adoption to someone that will love her as she is for as long as she is healthy and pain free and then let her go peacefully when her time is coming to an end. FOSTER UPDATE: Robin is as sweet as they come. She is not the most energetic puppy, but definitely all puppy! Everyone loves her 'dopey' personality and she loves everyone in return. She is great with the other dogs and is learning about the cat. She loves to play with everyone who is willing, often times a 4-way match! She loves to chew and drags anything she can sink her teeth into around the house. So far she has not let her heart condition slow her down! Sadly, while with us, her eye was damaged and has a corneal scar - poor little thing! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-04-00103Annie P (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

And Along Came the Human Children... Annie was born about November 16, 2009 and weighs 25 lbs. She is a cute little Beagle and she has a sunny, loving, disposition. She is wonderful with the other dogs and grew up with a dog brother so we are seeking a home where she will have a new dog buddy. Sadly, it is unusual for us to be able to place two dogs together and, just like us humans, we are not always able to stay with our spouse throughout life whether due to death or divorce so it's ok for us to go out and find someone new. Annie does love to cuddle and did very well on the over 3 hour car ride here. She has always had a fenced yard ... (Read More)so that would be really nice in her next life too and she does have the Beagle wanderlust so a fence or a leash will be necessary in her future. She is house trained and used to having a doggie door so she adjusted very quickly here and we just love her - you will too! She is here because the second child came along and they couldn't handle two kids and two dogs. Annie was said to be good with the kids 'most of the time', but not sure what that means because the owners hired someone to bring them to us. So, probably older children would be best. One more thing, she did test postive for lyme back in 2010 and again upon coming here. There are absolutely no symptoms and no treatment needed unless symptoms do appear (lameness) and then a course of doxycycline would be required. (Less)

Tarragon was born about April 13, 2015 and weighs about 13 lbs. She is sweet as can be and just adorable! She is wonderful with the other dogs and all of us. This little thing will surely want to be a lap dog. We want to warn potential adopters that often these tiny dogs struggle with house training and potty floor pads may be necessary throughout their lives for those times when they just can't hold it that long.     Pee Wee was born about January 10, 2009 and weighs about 15 lbs. He is house trained and paper trained for those times that he just can't hold it. Pee Wee is fine on leash and enjoys going for car rides, but it can cause some anxiety. He has no experience around children or cats, he's great with the other dogs. His favorite thing in the whole world is to have his tummy rubbed, sure makes the little nub wiggle! Pee Wee is protective of his humans so you'll need to cautious with new humans coming into your home and he has an infatuation with humans leaving which results in him trying to nip as you are going out the door. Such a bad ... (Read More)behavior that should have been corrected long ago, but we are working on it and water spray bottles are getting the message across, but he may try this again once he has a new home and doesn't realize we've let his new humans know how to handle this. One thing the new owner must know is that he had a very bad reaction to a lepto vaccine long ago and should never have another. His owner had a terrible car accident and is no longer able to care for him and struggling to care for herself - how sad. (Less)

Anastasia was born about January 9, 2016 and is the pup of our Grace. As for breed, Grace has very distinct, tiny, ears, so I'm going with a Fox Terrier mix with emphasis on mix! Grace weighs about 20 lbs. and is a little love! We have no clue who the father was, but it appears she will weigh in the 25 lb. range when full grown. Anastasia is a snuggler and she ADORES water! in the one photo you will notice that she is snuggled up with her favorite German Shepherds tail - this is an everyday occurrence.     'm a Velcro Dog! Jenny was born about January 10, 2015 and may top out in the 35 lb. range. She is a tall, lanky, girl and a gorgeous mix of brown and black. Jenny had a bit of trouble leaving her family and their 3 year old child who Jenny seldom let out of her site, she was excellent with the child. Jenny has settled in and decided she really does love all us new humans, but we need to caution that she may need some warm up time at first. She is excellent with other dogs, good in the car and good on leash. It is a good idea to keep Jenny on leash or in a secure fenced as she used to escape her small, city, fenced in back yard and she ... In addition she has not escaped the yard here that has 5' livestock wire around the back and 6' chain link in the front. She also enjoys lounging in the wire crate on my desk a long timer isn't curled up inside. She does love to be near us, we feel another dog would be a benefit and a human around much of the time. She is a major cuddler so if you want your dog to stay on the floor this girl is not for you. (Less)

Oh my, what became of my life? Josi was born about September 16, 2004 and weighs about 75 lbs., it's rather hard to tell right now as there is so much fur which we'll be managing to improve...somehow. This poor elder lady was left in a home just filled with cockroaches to the point that the finders of the dog took her to a car wash to bathe her since the roaches and their eggs are likely to be in so much fur. Her owner ended up in a nursing home and won't be coming back so Josi came to live with us for awhile so we can find another, compassionate, home for her. She is sweet as anyone can be and is good with other dogs and cats alike. She ... (Read More)did well on her two hour car ride here and we are told if she is off leash she will hang around with you. She loves attention and affection and you will be the person she waits for at the other end of the Rainbow Bridge! Jack Russell Mix

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

I'm Really Kind of Sweet! Jack was born about December 22, 2004 or in 2008....and he weighs about 10 lbs. So, he was picked up stray and his owner was located by his rabies tag, but they had no interest in bailing him out from dog control so we did. This poor little old man needed a safe place to fall! OK, the age thing, well the owner told the town that he was 7, but the vet that boosted his rabies shot for us feels he is about 11 so his birthday will be up to you! He is really sweet and loves to snuggle in your lap. He is just wonderful with the other dogs here, but struggled when he went to another home, particularly with a Beagle ... (Read More)as there was some food aggression. He seldom says a peep which we just love, but maybe he can't hear well, we've not been able to determine that, but it is obvious that his eyes have some old age cloudiness so his eyesight isn't what it used to be. He doesn't care, he gets around just fine. He is good on leash and ok in a crate, but not sure why you would need one. We are so glad he is here with us and we know we are going to find him an excellent home for the rest of his life where someone will love him and never let him wander freely. Jack did well on our cat test, but the other home said he didn't like their cat - sometimes confusing. (Less)

I Got Too Big! Crow was born July 27, 2015 and may top out right around 75 lbs. He is a beautiful, big, boy that was purchased by a truck driver, but he got too big for the truck so he had to come here, or so we were told. He is good on leash and loves car rides. He is great with the other dogs and is fine with cats and has been around children as young as 13 and all was well. Crow had some vet work done before arrival, they were taking good care of him, so upon calling the vet's office we were told that he had bitten the fiance a couple days ago bad enough for her to have stitches. Our intake form asks if a dog has ever bitten anyone ... (Read More)and 'no' was circled. Since he was still here we asked him and the answer was 'no'. We asked the vet if they were sure and they said yes, so we asked the owner again and the answer was still 'no, never bitten anyone'. So, alrighty then, no use beating a dead horse as the saying goes. Upon writing this Crow has been here a few days and we've not seen any aggression. He did try to jump and, maybe, tried some dominance tactics at first, but that just doesn't happen here. We are all very good at being the dominant beings and since the first evening he has been a complete pleasure. There are men and women coming and going all day and he's been absolutely fine. We don't know what circumstances lead to the alleged bite so we all need to keep it in mind and so we are seeking a home where the humans have experience dealing with dominant type breeds. He was completely friendly with us on intake. (Less)

Oh, my, that was a long trip! Ellie was born about November 25, 2009 and weighs about 17 lbs. She is an adorable, delicate looking, little tri-colored girl that is just wonderful with the other dogs here. She travels well in a car and good thing since her human brought her here from CT ! The phone rings and there is a woman rather upset because she can't keep her dog and she's very angry with all the shelters she's called because 'they were turning their backs on her dog'. I take a deep breath, as she is still talking, and ask where she was calling from and she said CT. I ask if she knew how far away she was calling and she said she'd ... (Read More)take her anywhere. I listened for awhile longer and then said 'fine, you can bring her here'. Of course not thinking she really would! Several days later she called to say she'd be here the next day and I was still surprised when she showed up! OK, so back to the Ellie: She's good in the car (good thing!) and she is good in the house. She is a quiet little girl, just hangs out on the top of the couch most of the day and in our laps in the evening. She does take some warm up time and a home where there are just one or two humans and not a ton of company would be best, she's just reserved with those she doesn't know and can be nippy if cornered or frightened. We are told she has some leash aggression, meaning she thinks she's a tough dog when out in the world and on leash. We've not seen this, but haven't had her on leash. So, all in all, she isn't a perfect dog, but she will be well loved again in the right home. Ellie was hit by a car when she was a year old and we have a copy of her records which couldn't be read due to the handwriting, but the vet office was nice enough to have the vet translate that the trauma Ellie experienced was an avulsion fracture of the femoral head and a right luxated hip. They popped the hip back in and due to her young age the fracture was able to heal on it's own. A few weeks later there were no signs of any discomfort and there will be no issues long term. She was lucky! Ellie is panicky in a crate and does need her owners home much of the time. (Less)

Cole was born about January 27, 2013 and will probably weigh in the 80 lb. range when full grown. He is from a very remote southern area shelter. We were told that any dogs who've been there the longest without interest by adopters or other rescues after that weekend would likely be euthanized the following Tuesday. The dog pound has a 150 dog capacity with 200 in the shelter at that time. Well, how could we leave this cutie chunk heads behind? So, Brad the volunteer pilot, and our great transport drivers had extra room so we could add him. Cole enjoys water and does wonderful with his other same size foster dog, but he is a little too ... (Read More)rough for small children, small dogs and shouldn't live with a cat. She will need some warm up time as he is shy of humans until he is comfortable with them. He LOVES to play ball and is good about going in his crate. He is very food motivated so easy to train with treats. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-10-00688Jenna Princeton (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Jenna was born about January 27, 2013 and weighs about 45 lbs. Jenna's color and pattern is beyond gorgeous. Though she is a young adult now, Jenna still has a lot of puppy spirit left and is very inquisitive about everything. She is very athletic and can play fetch all day so get your throwing arm ready. She has a very fun and playful (not hyper) personality. She needs an active family and lots of running room to keep her happy. She can jump a 4 foot fence so a 6 foot fence or invisible fence will be needed at her new home. She received some initial obedience training at Canine Academy in Clarence giving her a great head start and ... (Read More)we would love for her new home to continue to work with her. She is very eager to please, responsive & food motivated. She is crate trained, knows sit, wait, and let go and does a really good job of coming when called. Jenna has been living in a foster home with other dogs, but we've learned that interacting with her fellow canines can be a tricky area for her. Some days she behaves great with playing chase and give & take with toys. Other times, she exhibits bad manners such as 'pester barking' at a dog that has something she wants or plays too rough and pounces on others. She can be selective about who she likes (strange dogs) and can be resource protective. So, we think being the only dog is the home would be best unless you are willing to work on a very slow introduction with another pet to build and encourage pack bonding and be able to supervise playtime. She is quite wiggly and may knock a toddler down, so a home with older kids would be better. She does have strong prey drive which is great for fetching but not so much for cat or rodent pets. She is very affectionate and wonderful with people so it's easy to forgive her other vices. Patience and tolerance at her new home will be important. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-20-00649Loretta Lynn (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Loretta Lynn was born about June 10, 2005 and weighs in the 40 lb. range. Eight is the new five for this country singer as she hitched a ride with one of our volunteers that was in Nashville for a festival and decided not to waste the trip without saving a life or two. We found a dog control officer that had a few dogs that were hours away from death and he just hated to because they were such friendly dogs. Loretta was saved by one quick phone call! She does pull on leash and should be better with a gentle leader or appropriate collar. She rode wonderfully all the way North. She is very affectionate and will adore you! Loretta ended up ... (Read More)at the pound because, well, she's a beagle and if you don't contain a Beagle with a fence or keep them on leash they will wander off. They don't mean to, they just can't help but follow their noses, it's what they were bred to do. So, we can't imagine how unloved she must have felt when the people in this world that professed to love her forever when she was that cute puppy told dog control to keep her, they couldn't be bothered. By the way, she ducks when we clip a leash to her collar. She is telling us that wherever she was, it wasn't a very nice place. In the one photo you will see the green building in the back, that is where they were headed. (Less)
